We offer a range of services
DEEP TISSUES
Focuses on specific areas of tension or tightness which can cause localized or pain in the body. These areas of tension can be the result of injuries, scar tissue, or chronic conditions.
This is a firm style of massage delivered through the therapist’s fingers, elbows, knuckles, palms and thumbs to connect with the deeper soft tissue layers.
SPORTS MASSAGE
A form of remedial massage, which focuses on minimising injuries, and optimising the performance and recovery of an athlete in a specific sporting field. Pre- and post-event therapies differ in intensity and focus, and can encompass active and passive stretching, and other techniques, depending on the sport and the condition of the athlete.
TRIGGER POINT
Manipulation of trigger points, which can be either active or inactive. Active trigger points are hyper-irritated spots in the fascia surrounding skeletal muscle and may be felt as palpable nodules within muscle fibres, commonly referred to as a knot in the muscle.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
A soft tissue therapy which aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulate the muscle’s stretch reflex.
REMEDIAL TECHNIQUES
The ultimate aim of a remedial massage is to release tight or constricted individual muscle bundles within the muscle group or muscle / tendon / fascial network
RELAXATION TECHNIQUES
Relaxation has many mental and physical health benefits and can reduce symptoms of stress to help you enjoy a better quality of life
Why Massage?
The body is a self-regulating, energetic and enclosed system which continually attempts to regulate itself into a state of balance.
MANUAL THERAPY refers to various types of bodywork which manually manipulate the body’s soft tissues to achieve a state of either relaxation or provide relief for imbalances. MASSAGE is one type of manual therapy. For relaxation, we tend to follow Swedish massage techniques, and for therapeutic work, we tend to use deep tissue techniques to achieve pain relief and to re-balance the system.
What’s the difference between Therapeutic and Relaxation Massage treatments?
Soft tissues of the body lie underneath the skin and include tendons, ligaments, muscles and other connective tissue (fascia). The techniques used and expectations of the client influence the outcomes of the massage treatment.
Our body is a dynamic and inter-connected system comprising of fascia (an immense network of connective tissue which supports and covers all structures within our body, including cells), nerves, ligaments, tendons, muscle fibres, lymph, energetic pathways, skin and venous systems. Imbalances in any of these systems can cause symptoms including tension which can manifest as acute, chronic, localized or generalized pain. Manipulation of the soft tissues aims to relieve these symptoms.
